Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026
Finlume does not collect, store or transmit any personal data. There is no account, no registration, no analytics and no advertising. Your portfolio, your watchlist, your price alerts and your API keys stay on your device. The only thing you type that ever leaves it is a question you choose to send to the screener assistant (section 3).

1. Who is responsible

Finlume is developed by Grzegorz Szczotka. For any question about this policy, write to gszczotka@gmail.com.

2. What stays on your device

The following is stored locally, in the app's private storage, and is never sent to us:

We have no server, no database of users and no way to see any of this.

3. What leaves your device

The app connects only to the sources listed below, and only to fetch data you asked for. No identifier of you or your device is attached to these requests.

ServiceWhat is sentWhy
SEC EDGAR The company or institution identifier being looked up, and a contact e-mail address in the request header, which the SEC requires of every program using its archive. Financial statements, 13F portfolios, insider transactions.
Finnhub Ticker symbol and your own API key. Share price, share count, 52-week range.
Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) Ticker symbol and your own API key. Analyst price targets; stock splits of companies in your portfolio.
Alpha Vantage Ticker symbol, or the name or symbol you type when searching for an instrument, and your own API key. Analyst price targets, rating spread, earnings calendar, prices of ETFs and shares listed outside the US, stock splits of holdings in your portfolio.
EODHD Ticker symbol, or the name or symbol you type when searching for an instrument, and your own API key. Prices of ETFs and shares listed outside the US, stock splits of holdings in your portfolio; your plan and today's request count, shown in Settings → Data providers.
Twelve Data Ticker symbol and your own API key. Price history for the chart and for portfolio results.
Google AI Studio For a company summary: the figures from the company's statements shown on screen and excerpts of its SEC filings (the discussion of results, the risk factors and recent current reports). For the screener assistant: the text of your question, the list of screener criteria with their descriptions and the thresholds currently set. Always with your own API key — never your portfolio, price alerts or watchlist. A written summary of a company, or an answer and suggested criteria in the screener — only when you press the button.
Frankfurter (European Central Bank reference rates) Nothing beyond the request itself — no key, no identifier. Today's currency rates, so amounts can be shown in your currency.
open.er-api.com Nothing beyond the request itself — no key, no identifier. Currency rates, so amounts can be shown in your currency.

Questions to the screener assistant are sent to Google exactly as you typed them. On the free plan of Google AI Studio, Google may use the content it receives to improve its models and people may read it, so do not include personal data or details of your portfolio in a question. If you ask by voice, speech is turned into text by your phone's own speech recognition service before the app sees it; the app receives only the text and never records audio.

All of these are optional except SEC EDGAR. Without the keys the app works on SEC data alone; it simply has no quotes, no forecasts, no summaries and no assistant. You can remove a key at any time in Settings — removing the quote key also deletes the quotes stored on the device, as that provider's terms require.

Each provider has its own privacy policy, which applies to the requests your key makes: SEC, Finnhub, FMP, Alpha Vantage, EODHD, Twelve Data, Google.

4. Backup

Android's own backup may copy the app's user database — your portfolio, watchlist, alerts and settings — to your Google Drive, in the private area reserved for app data. This is a function of the operating system, not of Finlume; we have no access to it. You can switch it off in your phone's settings under Google › Backup. Downloaded SEC data is excluded from that backup: it can be fetched again, and it is far too large to store.

5. Permissions

Finlume asks for internet access and, if you turn on price alerts or update notifications, for permission to show notifications. It does not ask for contacts, location, camera, microphone or files.

When you import an account history file from your broker or restore a backup, you choose the file yourself in the system file picker. The app reads only that file, at that moment, and nothing from it is sent anywhere — the purchases go straight into the portfolio on your phone.

6. Payment

The full version is bought through Google Play. The transaction is handled entirely by Google — we never see your payment details, only the fact that a purchase exists.

7. Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone, regardless of age.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date at the top. Since we hold no contact details for anyone, there is no other way for us to notify you — which is itself a consequence of collecting nothing.

9. Your rights

Data protection law gives you the right to access, correct and erase your personal data. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show or delete. Everything the app stores is in your hands: clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes all of it from the device.
